Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple projects in Meghalaya. He is scheduled to inaugurate various development schemes in Tripura today too. He also participated in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the North Eastern Council in Shillong, Meghalaya. The PM will also chair key meetings and address rallies in the north-eastern states. Around 10,000 people are expected to attend the public meeting.

“Till the formation of the double engine government, Tripura, North East used to be discussed only twice. One, when elections were held and second, when there was an incident of violence! Now the time has changed, today Tripura is being discussed for cleanliness and infrastructure development,” he said.

“Our focus is on improving physical, digital as well social infrastructure in the North East,” the prime minister said.

“Today, the work of building roads, tunnels, bridges, rail lines, airstrips is going on at a fast pace on the border areas. We are engaged in making the border villages vibrant which were once deserted,” PM Modi added.
