Newsstardom : Kolkata,19th. 2023 – Merlin Green frames Nature Photography , an awareness campaign on nature’s conservation and harmonious coexistence of man and nature , finally culminated in a gala award ceremony at Merlin Aquaville adjacent to Ibiza the Fern Resort & Spa , Kolkata. The initiative aims at harnessing the power of storytelling through photography to bring people closer to their natural environment and encourage them to work towards its conservation. Photographers will be delighted to capture a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Alize Suzuki under this category “Landscape: Co-existence of man and nature” won first prize , a cash prize of 11000 and Pritha Roy won the second prize , worth sony hamper value of 7000.
Suman Banerjee under this category “Macro” won first prize , a cash prize of 11000 and Arindam Santra won the second prize worth sony hamper value of 7000 .
Pallav Roy Choudhury under this category “Birds: Their habits and habitats” won first prize , a cash prize of 11000 and Pradipta Moulik won the second prize , worth sony hamper value of 7000.
Raaqueen Majeed under this category “Blend of nature & Architect, – Host Award” won first prize , a cash prize of 15000
Abhisek Paul under this category “Flora & Fauna” won first prize , a cash prize of 11000 and Soumalya Das won the second prize , worth Sony Gift Hamper value of 7000.
Arindam Santra under this category “. Life in Action” won first prize , a cash prize of 11000 and Alize Suzuki won the second prize , worth Sony Gift hamper, Value of 7000 .
Pallav Roy Choudhury won overall prize, a cash prize of 41000 and sony gift hamper value of 15000.
PubarunBasu, an award winning young photographer and BisakhaDatta, a nature photographer adjudged the winners.
The occasion was transformed into a rich experience as ace actor and wild life photographer by passion, ShriSabyasachiChakraborty , enriched the audience with a vivid narrative of his wild life photography days in nature . An Author of the book “AfricaySabyasachi”- a description of wild life photography in Africa, SabyasachiChakraborty also visited the exhibition on selected nature photographs clicked by the contestants along with director ArindamSil and Actor, Director ParambrataChattopadhyay .
Mr. SushilMohta, Chairman, Merlin Group said , “ this is our first such initiative on conservation of nature. The response from people was good but we hope it can assume a shape of awareness campaign if such initiative is replicated by others. We do hope to continue such activity in next year also at a time when a lot of migratory birds will be there.
Merlin embarked on a two day workshop and nature photography contest at Aquaville and Ibiza the Fern Resort & Spa, Kolkata on 11th and 12th March in association with Sony India . A soul rejuvenating walk across greenery entwined with nature photography had been the crux of the two day nature photography contest at Aquaville and Ibiza the Fern Resort &Spa , Kolkata in a nutshell. A host of birds like cormorant, Baya Weaver ,Red Vented Bulbul, woodpeckers, White Eye, Asian Open Bill, Egret, White ram munia , kingfishers and Purple Sunbird Male were captured by the enthusiastic lens men here. Besides the impressive architecture, a variety of floras and serene landscapes were also clicked.
Over 40 amateur photographers and nature enthusiasts participated in the two day long event and workshop. Participants from distant locations like Hooghly ,Singur, Barasat ,Behala, Nagerbazar, Baguihati, came here to capture nature’s bounty on their lenses. In addition to the photography contest, Sony India also conducted interactive workshops by Mr. SarojDora, an expert specialist from Sony India. PubarunBasu,mentor and judge of the Merlin Green Frames contest also conducted a workshop to help photographers learn new techniques with camera and tips to improve their craft.
ArindamSantra from Dumdum said , “ It was wonderful experience to have come here at Aquaville and Ibiza the fern resort and spa , and click nature and fauna and flora. We have spotted several species like cormorant, White eye, white ram munia sunbirds here . We feel we can get migratory birds here in the winter and I am looking forward to the second edition.
.Actor BadshaMaitra , who is also a passionate lens man by choice , graced the occasion and inspired the budding lens men with tips on photography.
A coffee table book will be curated out of this which will include selected photographs and will be disseminated to people.
