Highlights from the 47th International Kolkata Book Fair…

News Stardom : kolkata, 18th, January, 2024. Dignitaries who were present in the inaugural ceremony of the 47th International Kolkata Book Fair were Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister, West Bengal; Mr. Alex Ellis, CMG, British High Commissioner to India, Ms. Alison Barett, MBE,Director ,British Council India; Smt.Bani Basu, Eminent Author; Janab Firad Hakim, Mayor of West Bengal;

Sujit Bose, MIC Fire and Emergency Services, Government of West Bengal and MLA of Biddhannagar;
Indranil Sen, Minister of Tourism, Govt. of West Bengal; Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister for Agriculture, Govt. of West Bengal; Vinit Goyal, Joint Commissioner of Police, Kolkata Police, Tridib Kr. Chatterjee, President, Publishers & Booksellers Guild; Gaurav Sharma, IPS Commissioner of Police, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate; Sudhanshu Sekhar Dey, Honorary General Secretary, Publishers & Booksellers Guild; Dola Sen, MP, Rajyasabha; Krishna Chakraborty, Mayor, Biddhannagar;

• Smt. Bani Basu was honoured with the Dr. Rama Prasad Goenka CESC Sristi Samman 2024, along with a monetary prize of Rs 2,00,000, during the inaugural ceremony by CM Mamata Banerjee.

• CM Mamata Banerjee expressed gratitude being a part of the opening ceremony of the 47th Kolkata International Book Fair. She has authored 143 books till date, underlining her passion for writing. The ceremony saw the launch of books like

• With participation from almost 20 countries (USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Spain, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal etc),
Mamata Banerjee conveyed her gratitude to everyone present, urging them to carve out time for reading books amidst their busy schedule.

• Tridib Kr. Chatterjee, President, Publishers & Booksellers Guild requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to grant a dedicated space where they can have book archives, library and guest house for national and international dignitaries.
