21-day long Chandan Sringar festival of Lord Sri Krishna at Gaudiya Mission, Bagbazar, Kolkata….

News Stardom : kolkata, 25th. May 2024. Under the spiritual guidance of the President and Acharya, His Divine Grace Sri Srimad Bhakti Sundar Sanyasi Goswami Maharaj and under the benign management of the Governing body of Gaudiya Mission, a 21-day long “Chandan Sringar festival” of Lord Sri Krishna at Gaudiya Mission, Bagbazar, Kolkata has started from 10th May to 30th May, 2024.

Legend says that, In Satyayuga Lord Jagannath instructed king of Puri, Sri Indradyumna to perform the ritualistic covering of his idol with sandalwood paste from Akshaya Tritiya.

It is believed that in kaliyuga, Sri Girdhari Gopala, (presently manifested in Nathdwara,Rajasthan as Sri Nathji) instructed Sri Madhavendrapuri, the spiritual master of Sri Ishwarpuri who was the spiritual master of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to perform ritualistic covering of his Idol with sandalwood paste from Akshya Tritiya. Since then, the Chandan Yatra Mahotsava (Chandan Sringar) is celebrated every year from Akshya Tritiya with grandeur.

In summer, Chandan Sringar makes Lord Sri Krishna cool. The devotees, who cover Lord’s Idol with sandalwood paste, donate sandalwood or see Him in Chandan Sringar with devotion, are easily absolved of three afflications and ultimate reach the eternal abode.

Various of programmes such as Bhagavad Sabha, Sankirtan and Temple Parikrama, Maha Arati with Maha Nritya, Harinam Sankirtan are observed everyday at Gaudiya Mission. Approximately 500 devotees come and join this programmes. Gaudiya Mission serves Mahaprasadam to everyone and every day.

The 150th advent commemoration programme of their founder Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Prabhupad will observe in USA, UK, GERMANY, BANGLADESH, CANADA very soon.
