Altogether 870 journalists/media persons were vaccinated as covid warriors at the vaccination camps organised by Govt of West Bengal in Collaboration with Press Club Kolkata, spread over five days at the club. Those received vaccination included accreditated and non accredited Journalists and photo journalists of 18 years and above, belonging to print, electronic and digital media and across general, sports and entertainment sectors.
The camps were organised as a follow up of the announcement made by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declaring the journalists as covid warriors.
Various departments of the State Govt like Information & Cultural Affairs, Health & Family Welfare, Urban Development, Kolkata Municipal Corporation and NRS Medical College & Hospital facilitated the Camps at Press Club, Kolkata.
Three journalists having roots in West Bengal but working in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangaluru, who are at present in Kolkata were also administered the vaccine at the camp as a fraternal gesture.
This is for the second time, after Swastha Sathi, a govt service is made available at the Press Club, Kolkata to all kinds of mediapersons across all categories.
