News Stardom : Kolkata, 4th. November, 2020. The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) in the UNIVERSITY OF
ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT, KOLKATA had undertaken various
activities prescribed by Innovation Cell, Ministry of Higher Education,
Government of India to promote Innovation and Start-up activities in
campus during the IIC calendar year 2019-20 and received 4.5 rating
out of 5. There were a good numbers of events executed like, motivational
talks, workshops, innovation challenges, demo days, mini hackathon,
industrial incubation visits, participations in several international
conferences by students and faculty members related to innovation and
entrepreneurship. Moreover three faculty members of the Universityare
certified as ‘Innovation Ambassador’ by MHRD. In IIC portal, 78 ideas, 40
POCs and 26 prototypes were approved in the calendar year 2019-2020.
Besides, there were two student teams, selected as national finalists in
Smart India Hackathon 2020 and one student team was selected as
national finalist in ChattraViswakarma Award 2020. The team Innovation
Council of the University has sent 35 patent applications for filing in last
quarter. During this COVID pandemic period students of our University are
continously involved for innovative and creative activities under the sole
inspiration of our energetic and dedicated faculty to have sustained
performance of IIC.
