News Stardom : kolkata, 25th February, 2026. The Astor Kolkata brings alive a rich, nostalgic chapter of India’s culinary history with its Anglo-Indian Food Festival, hosted at its iconic restaurant Kebab-E-Que. Running from 20th February to 8th March 2026, the festival is available for both lunch and dinner, inviting diners to experience a cuisine shaped by colonial influences, railway refreshment rooms, coffee-house kitchens and cherished home-style traditions. Subtle spices, comforting flavours and hearty preparations define Anglo-Indian food, and this specially curated menu pays homage to a culinary legacy deeply rooted in Kolkata’s cultural fabric.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Kobat, General Manager, The Astor Kolkata, said, “The Anglo-Indian Food Festival is our tribute to a cuisine that holds immense historical and emotional significance. These recipes narrate stories of shared histories, railway journeys and family tables. At The Astor, we take pride in celebrating heritage, and this festival reflects our continued commitment to preserving and presenting timeless culinary traditions in an authentic yet refined manner.”

The festival menu begins with the comforting East Indian Mulligatawny Soup, prepared with mixed lentils, fresh curry leaves and home-made curry powder. Appetisers feature much-loved Anglo-Indian favourites such as the Railway Vegetable Cutlet served with French fries and dhone-pata chutney, the Parmesan-Garlic Roast Cauliflower paired with peanut hummus and pickled onions, and the indulgent Coffee Shop Style Coconut Prawn Cutlet, made with sweet water prawns and potato hash. Other highlights include Mutton Pantheras, where minced mutton is folded into delicate rice-flour crepes with spicy tomato chutney, Chicken Dry Fry served with a house salad, and the rustic Pork Roast Fry, described as a speciality from the treasure chest of Anglo-Indian food.

Main course offerings continue the culinary journey with soulful, slow-cooked classics. Standout dishes include the Fish Mollie, a Portuguese legacy dish using king fish simmered in coconut milk and served with steamed rice, and the iconic Railway Mutton Curry, inspired by flavours from railway refreshment rooms of long-distance trains and accompanied by spiced bread rolls. Guests can also savour Chicken À La Kiev, featuring a chicken fillet filled with cold butter and served with a warm sweet corn salad, alongside the bold Pork Vindaloo, prepared with pork loin, red wine, potatoes and garlic pav. Vegetarian selections such as the Seasonal Vegetable Stew served with charcoal-grilled local pav complete the main course spread.

The rice and bread section offers hearty comfort with the Junglee Pulao, a dish from the leaf of lost recipes combining cooked rice, chicken, hard-boiled eggs and devil chutney, along with the classic Shepherd’s Pie, layered with ground lamb, green peas, spiced mashed potatoes and garlicky bread strips.

Desserts bring the festival to a fitting close with nostalgic favourites like the East India Company Coconut Pudding served with ginger pastry cream, and the Dark Spiced English Fruit Cake, a British-style dark chocolate cake that perfectly complements the Anglo-Indian theme.

Set within the timeless elegance of The Astor Kolkata, the Anglo-Indian Food Festival at Kebab-E-Que promises a memorable celebration of history, heritage and heartfelt flavours—bringing a cherished culinary legacy to life, one plate at a time.
