eminent Bollywood Actor and Padma Shri Vidya Balan at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan

News stardom : 5th January 2023, Kolkata: The annual flagship event of FOGSI – The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India & The Organising Committee of the 65th “AICOG 2023” was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr Jeanne Conry, President of FIGO (International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynecology) from USA along with Olympic Medalist and Padma Vibhushan Mary Kom and Padma Shri Bollywood Actor Vidya Balan. The inauguration ceremony took place at Swami Vivekananda Hall, Pavilion A, Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata.

S Shantha Kumari, Imm Past President FOGSI; Hrishikesh D Pai, Prisident FOGSI; Dr Bhaskar Pal, Chair organising Committee, AICOG 2023; Madhuri Patel, Secretary General, FOGSI; Dr Dibyendu Banerjee, Organising Secretary, AICOG 2023; Dr. Basab Mukherjee, Organising Secretary, AICOG 2023 were also present at the inaugural session of AICOG 2023.

Five Public Forum, one-hour open area stage sessions on public awareness will take place on the topics given below –

Badlaav – Swasth Nari, Sukhi Nari (Prevention of NCDs) by Neharika Malhotra, Ojaswini Kapoor, Indranil Dutta, Rohan Palshetkar, Dr Priyankur Roy, Dr Shrutika Thakkar and Dr Arnav Pai
Dheera – Say No to Violence Against Women by Dr Kiranmai Devineni, Dr Anitha Sabharwal, Dr Aruna Suman B and Dr Supriya Jaiswal
Save the Girl Child – Nutrition, Menstrual Hygiene, Mental Health etc. by Dr. Rachna Dubey, Dr Meena, Dr. Indrani Roy and Dr. Shehla Jamal
Preserve the Uterus – Hysterectomy the last option
Preventing Cancer – Awareness, Screening, Vaccination, Early Detection and Treatment

Ms M C Mary Kom said “She is delighted to be part of this event where womens health and their safety is of oughtmost priority.”

Ms Vidya Balan highlighted the importance of the ongoing theme “Creating Tomorrow Together” aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.

Bhaskar Pal Chair, Org Committee commented, ‘AICOG 2023 is one of the largest conglomeration of women healthcare specialists in this part of the world.’

Basab Mukherjee Org Secretary highlighted that ‘the public forums will be conducted during the conference which will spread pertinent health messages across masses and social media.’

About AICOG 2023: It is one of the biggest medical conferences in the nation, drawing close to 8,000 women’s health experts from around the globe. The Bengal Obstetric and Gynecological Society is in charge of organizing it, which cycles across different zones and is back in Kolkata after 16 years. Their slogan is “Creating Tomorrow Together,” which refers to a future in which women’s morbidity and death due to preventable causes will be as low as possible and we will be in compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.
