News Stardom : Kolkata, 18th. November, 2022. Recently, at Rabindra Sadan,kolkata with the support of Ministry of culture, govt of India, SRIJAN CHHANDA had organised a classical evening “Rasabilasa” it was the finest rendition and amalgamation of the various classical dance forms of India. It depicted the Rasa’s and vaba madhuri with it’s magnificent usage of the Indian classical dance techniques. It was a pure bliss and treat to the eyes. Rasabilasa was performed by various eminent and famous danseuse of kolkata.
In the first half, there was “RITUSAMHAR” presented by the members of Srijan Chhanda and Sri Rajib Bhattacharya himself the artistic director of SRIJAN CHHANDA. Ritusamhar is the garland of small poetic verses based on six seasons, written by great Indian poet Kalidasa. It was an extraordinary production by SRIJAN CHHANDA.
Next performance was by the group members of “ Shinjan Nrityalaya “ the artistic director of “ Shinjan Nrityalaya “ is Smt. Aloka Kanungo, a renowned Odissi exponent of India and specially Kolkata, her disciples presented two beautiful and outstanding productions choreographed by Smt. Akola Kanungo. The details of the production performed by them are as follows,

After the awesome performance of Shinjan Nrityalaya, there was a duet performance of Kolkata’s renowned kathak Guru Sri Ashimbandhu Bhattacharya. The glorious tribute to almighty in form of dance is a historical ritual in the Indian classical dance. And Guru Sri Ashimbandhu Bhattacharya, beautifully portrayed it on the stage by performing his two productions named ” Ibadat ” it is a prayer to all mighty and seeks blessings for world peace.Eternal tune of love peace and harmony.Song written by Janab Nida Fazil.Sung by Produt Sarkar

His another production was ” Melbandhan”. The concept of ” Melbandhan” has been described below.
Immense power begets absolute glory. The Dhamar symbolises defiance of the timid stereotype and dexterity of the impossible. It is supremely masculine yet eclectically flexible.
Last but not the least, the show stopping performance was given by the members of “Kalashristhi”. Kalashristhi is a Bharatanatyam Dance training institute and its artistic director is renowned Bharatanatyam dancer of Kolkata Respected Sujata Ramalingam. The dancers of Kalashristhi performed their peices based on mythological stories and goddesses. The Kalashristhi members says on “Rasabilasa” “Kalashrishti Kalakaars are humbled to be a part of the prestigious festival, Rasabilasa and equally honoured to share the stage with other eminent artists. ” The performance details of Kalashristhi members are as follows,
Kauthuvam – means a hymn in praise of God/Goddess. It has both nritta (footwork) & abhinaya (expressions) components in its choreography.
This particular song is based on Raagamalika set to talam Khanda Triputa in praise of the supreme Goddess composed by Madhurai R. Muralidharan. In the dance choreography, we have tried to depict the Astamatrikas.
Ashtamatrikas are a group of Goddesses who are always depicted together as Eight Divine Mothers who should be worshipped for Mukti(spritual renewal ) and Bhukti( powers to control and rule earthly desires).
The Ashtamatrikas are Brahmani ,Vaishnavi, Maheshvari, Kaumari, Varahi, Indrani, Narasimhi and Chamundi.
2. Thillana in Ragam Sindhu Bhairavi set to Talam Adi is in praise of Devi who always guides her devotees to choose the right path to salvation.

In this prestigious festival, all the eminent and renowned dance personalites of the evening were felicitated by the director of SRIJAN CHHANDA, Sri Rajib Bhattacharya. All the eminent dancers gave their valuable speech on classical dance and its evolution. It was a great classical evening rather it can be conveyed as a great classical weekend as the festival was celebrated on a Saturday evening.
Altogether, it can wrapped by saying, the classical dance guru’s of today’s generation is trying their level best to instill the culture in the kids and youths of today’s generation. Specially, Sri Rajib Bhattacharya, left no stone unturned to make this endeavour a successful one.
