Staff Reporter : Kolkata, 11th February, 2026: On the occasion of Children’s Mental Health Week, SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, in association with the Early Childhood Association (ECA), organised an awareness session titled “Play, Attachment and Emotional Growth”, emphasising the importance of children’s mental health from a school perspective.
The session focused not only on understanding how play-based learning, secure attachment, and emotional development contribute to children’s overall well-being and learning outcomes, but also on practical ways to integrate children’s mental and emotional wellness into daily school routines. The discussions highlighted that emotional well-being should not be limited to occasional interventions, but consciously embedded into everyday classroom interactions, teaching methods, and home environments.
Aimed at educators, students and parents, the programme underscored the need for creating emotionally safe, supportive, and responsive learning spaces. Special emphasis was placed on the role of educators and parents as key stakeholders, noting that a sustainable ecosystem of well-being can only be established when schools and families work together in alignment to support children’s emotional needs.
The awareness session was led by Ms. Madhuri Sarda, Psychologist and Founder, Annantaa, and Ms. Vidhi Bansal, Psychotherapist and Co-Founder, Annantaa, who shared practical insights drawn from their professional experience in child mental health and emotional wellness. Their interaction highlighted the role of educators in recognising emotional cues, building trust-based relationships, collaborating with parents, and integrating emotional awareness into everyday school practices.
The programme was further graced by Dr. Suman Sood, Director & Principal, B.D. Memorial Jr.; Advisor, IVWS & B.D.M.I.; and National Core Committee Member, ECA, whose presence reinforced the importance of institutional collaboration, advocacy, and parent–educator partnerships in strengthening children’s mental health initiatives within the education sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jayeeta Ganguly, Principal of SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, said, “At SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, we believe that emotional well-being is integral to a child’s growth and learning journey. Through initiatives like this awareness session, we aim to equip educators and parents with a deeper understanding of children’s emotional needs, so that together we can nurture a balanced, empathetic, and emotionally resilient school environment.”
Through this initiative, SPK Jain Futuristic Academy and the Early Childhood Association reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting children’s mental well-being by encouraging informed, compassionate, and emotionally inclusive educational practices.
