News Stardom : kolkata, 24th. April, 2025. Ruby General Hospital will be celebrating its 30th anniversary on 25th.April, 2025. The hospital was inaugurated on April 25th, 1995 by Honb’le Chief Minister Jyoti Basu as the FIRST NRI HOSPITAL OF EASTERN INDIA. Mother Teresa inaugurated the Cardiac Surgery Unit and Mother Teresa Ward on 27th October, 1995. Dr. Kamal K Dutta, Founder Chairman stated that it will be a 500 bedded multispecialty hospital and Cancer Centre by 2025.

Ruby Cancer Centre is a most modern and state of the art Cancer Centre, serving the people of Eastern India for the last ten years. Chief guest Sister Michael from Missionaries of Charity and Vivek Maharaj from Adyapeath Dakshineswar along with Mrs. Ruby Dutta inaugurated the second state of the art radiotherapy machine, Varian TrueBeam. The Varian TrueBeam linear Accelerator Machine, Version 3.0 is the most user friendly and has advanced mapping system of the cancer tumor along with with eclipse version 18 planning system for exact radiation treatment for the tumor. Dr. Dutta also stated that from June 2025 Ruby Hospital will launch the first Digital PET Scan in Kolkata. This will reduce the time of PET CT from 30 minutes to 5 minutes with the patient receiving only one – third of the dose of radiation. It will also give enhanced picture clarity. The installation of the PET CT is already underway. These two machines (Varian TrueBeam and Digital PET CT) will transform Ruby Cancer Centre into the foremost Cancer care facility in Eastern India.

Ruby Hospital’s primary goal was to give quality care at an affordable cost. Ruby is the only hospital in Eastern India selected as the top 50 best hospitals in India for 5 consecutive years, 2021 to 2025 by Newsweek Magazine, USA.

There are few more important announcements on our 30th anniversary. Considering the tremendous importance of Mental Health, a free Mental Wellness Clinic is being launched today for the common people and appointment can be booked though Ruby 24 x 7 Mobile App. This free psychological consultation will be available to all segments and age group of our society.

To make the 30 years celebration noteworthy, we are happy to announce that 850 destitute and orphan children of Adyapeath Ashram will be under the care of Ruby Hospital in terms of annual health check up and all medical and surgical emergency requiring hospitalization.

We will also work closely with the Missionaries of Charity for early detection, diagnosis and prevention of cancer. We will have regular Cancer Screening Sessions for all their homes like the homes for the abandoned, homes for children, homes for the sick and dying, physically and mentally challenged women and will also be taking care of the cancer screening diagnostics for those who are advised for the same. We want to spread awareness and education for early detection of cancer. We are already doing camps and awareness programs through the Ruby Cancer Care and Research Foundation. Early detection of cancer can lead to increased survival rates, reduced need for aggressive treatment, improved patient outcomes, lower cost of treatment and better quality of life.

Along with the above endeavours, Ruby General Hospital has also decided to carry out 30,000 preventive examinations to detect Diabetes and Hypertension. With the introduction of the ‘Be Healthy’ kiosk in the outpatient department of Ruby General Hospital, common people will be able to get their Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar checked on all days of the week, from 10 am to 6 pm.

As the 30th anniversary is an extremely important milestone for any organisation, Ruby General Hospital and Ruby Cancer Centre wanted to share the year- long plan with the media, so that all these humble efforts can make some fruitful contributions towards the welfare of the society.
