PRSI and CCC Unveils BrandEdge’23 Fostering Inclusivity….

News stardom : Kolkata, 25th.September, 2023: The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Kolkata Chapter, and the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce (CCC) announced details of the ensuing BrandEdge DEI conference scheduled for September 30 at a city hotel.

Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, President, Calcutta Chamber of Commerce; Soumyajit Mahapatra, Chairman, Public Relations Society of India, Kolkata Chapter; and Sumit Agarwal, and SDG Ambassador for Diversity and Inclusion, LinkedIn Top Voice were present at the press meet where they addressed the burning issues of accessibility and a lack of employment in our country.

Soumyajit Mahapatra unveiled this year’s BrandEdge theme: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). He told that diversity recognises differences among people and their fair representation. Equity ensures fair treatment of opportunities and outcomes, while inclusion fosters a culture of belonging for diverse groups.

Not only in government policies, DEI is now becoming relevant for almost every sector, that is, education, the workplace, the healthcare system, and definitely in internal and external communication for all organizations. These three interconnected concepts are now being woven together to make the future fair, just, and better.

The Indian Constitution guarantees equality, freedom, justice, and dignity for all, including persons with disabilities. It calls for an inclusive society. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals’ motto, “No one is left behind,” promoting an inclusive and barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities.

Kishan Kumar Kejriwal said that the Calcutta Chamber of Commerce is supporting this unique initiative, which will definitely impact the social eco-system in the near future.

Sumit Agarwal said that “together, let us pave the way for a society where the spirit of inclusivity and equality reigns supreme, fostering in Kolkata a society that is truly representative of all its members against all forms of ageism, racism, sexism, and discrimination based on disability, identity, and more.”


The Census 2011 highlighted that, nearly one third of the total disabled persons are working.

• At all India level, 36% of the total disabled persons are workers. Among the male disabled persons, 47% are working and among female disabled only 23% are working.

• In rural India, 25% of the female disabled are working, while in urban India, the corresponding figure is 16%.

According to latest workforce data reported by Nifty India’s top corporates have only three persons with disabilities ( PwD) for every 1,000 employees on rolls Even as a growing number of companies embrace affirmative action and commit to hiring a diverse workforce.
