News stardom : Kolkata, 28th.February, 2024: Probably for the first time, the city of Kolkata has witnessed a spectacular show where Art and Awareness blended well for a better and bigger cause – #OncoLogic- Art for a Cause. Team Narayana Health, Kolkata took this initiative with Narayana Hospital, Howrah, and Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital, Mukundapur when they joined forces to promote Cancer awareness through the “Nukkad Natak” (street Play) campaign. The six-day-long “Nukkad Natak” awareness campaign on Cancer started on February 14 and concluded today (February 19). The campaign aimed at raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection, received an overwhelming response from different segments of the society.
Mr R Venkatesh, Group COO of Narayana Health said, “We believe that ‘Nukkad Natak’ is the strongest medium of communication because this city is the cultural capital of the country, and the people of Bengal love and appreciate good performances. We can convey the right message to the people through this tool of communication.”
The ‘Nukkad Nataks’ featured humorous yet insightful interactions, highlighting the importance of timely medical care and the role of Narayana Health in cancer treatment across the Nation. Scenes addressing cancer awareness with fun filled yet strong messages emphasized the significance of regular screenings and early detection, empowering the audience members to safeguard their health. Additionally, the campaign underscored the importance of cancer awareness for both men and women.
Mr. Ashim Kumar, Facility Director, Narayana Hospital, Howrah said, “Cancer cases are surging in this city, and the primary cause of the rise of cancer cases is an unhealthy lifestyle& stress, which is prevalent in both men and women in the present scenario. So, we targeted some of the most strategic locations of the city, which is crowded with a population of millennial and young adults”.
The bandwagon of the ‘Nukkad Natak’ roamed around the city of joy to spread the message about breast, prostate, head & neck, gynaecological and lung cancer, which has already affected millions in Bengal. Some of the talented artists performed at key locations, which the experts of the Narayana Hospital, Howrah, and Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital, Mukundapurmeticulously mapped.
