Staff Reporter : Kolkata, 30th October, 2025 The 11th Asian Mining Congress and International Mining Equipment and Minerals Exhibition which is organised by Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI) was today inaugurated. The theme of this year AMC is “Innovative & Responsible Mining for Inclusive Growth”.
The inauguration of the Asian Mining Congress and the exhibition was done by Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India, in the presence of Shri P M Prasad, the outgoing Chairman, Coal India, Shri Ujjwal Tah, the Director General of Directorate General of Mines Safety. Shri B Sairam, CMD of Northern Coal fields Limited and to succeed Mr Prasad as the next CEO of the coal mining behemoth was also present.
AMC has grown to become a major international event for the mining and mineral industries, particularly focusing on the Asian region.
This biennial event is set to be the premier gathering for global and Asian mining industry leaders, policymakers, and technical experts. There was a palpable excitement in the mining fraternity about this flagship show of MGMI and this was evident in the large turnout comprising of distinguished high-level government officials and industry leaders, who highlighted the strategic importance of the mining and minerals sector,

Shri Ranjan Talapatra, Convener, 11th AMC informed on the sidelines that MGMI, a 119-year-old association of mining and other earth science professionals, has been organizing the Congress since its Centenary year 2006. He mentioned that the Asian Mining Congress is held concurrently with the 11th International Mining Exhibition (11th IME), which typically runs for a longer duration, this time from October 30 to November 2, 2025. This event franchise is been held biennially and has developed and grown over the years to become a coveted Mining Extravaganza. From this year, MGMI has started collaborating with Equipment Times Magazine to confer Excellence awards in Mining & Minerals Sector during the event.
