Staff Reporter, Kolkata, 28th. September, 2023 : Merlin I Am Kolkata ( Merlin I’m Kolkata) , the csr arm of Merlin Group ushers in the festive season of Durga Puja , in a humble way like every year.
At a formal function, Mr. Saket Mohta, MD, Merlin Group presented new clothes to the children of Pathchala in presence of Mr. Saumya Roy, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police , South West , and Actress Sonalee Chaudhuri to bring cheer to the little faces . Merlin I am Kolkata ( Merlin I’m Kolkata) has been supporting Pathchala, a non-profit organization located in Kalighat for the last three years with educational sponsorship for 60 children . Saumya Roy, appreciated the gesture of Merlin I Am Kolkata. Sonalee Chaudhuri also expressed her wish to support the children with new clothes during Durga Puja next year.
“ Durga Puja is the festival for all strata of the society. Our small initiative is to include these little children in this festival so that they can enjoy the puja clad in new clothes and go for pandal hopping. I feel extremely delighted to present our humble offering to them to make my birthday more special. If our humble help can bring cheer to the little angels, we would feel more satiated. We hope to continue our support for their education in future as well”, said Mr. Saket Mohta, MD, Merlin Group and founder, Merlin I am Kolkata.
“We are thankful to Merlin group for providing us an opportunity to work for the less privileged children. Merlin has always come forward to support us in their own ways from time to time , be it by providing support to promote the vocational skill of our children or by providing new clothes or educational stationary. Currently Merlin Group has been supporiting the education for children on a regular basis”, said Rukmini Paul, President , Pathchala .

About Pathchala :
Established in 1997 by late Smt. Indrani Ganguly, Pathchala was founded by a group of like minded citizens of Kolkata. It was dedicated to helping the underprivileged children, primarily from the streets and from the areas marked as red-light zones in and around Kalighat . Late Shri Ashish Ganguly and Smit Krishna Gupta , a school teacher of Navanalanda , assumed the responsibility for Pathchala and expanded the work manifold.
Pathchala was awarded “The Telegrah School Award” (2009) and much such recognition came .
Currently Pathchala supports 65 children and their education and all round development including sports, menstrual hygiene awareness , value education and vocational education. Merlin Group supported the children from time to time and organized their trip to Acropolis Mall, and presented puja donation of clothes and educational stationary.
