News Stardom : Kolkata, 5th June 2025– Medica Superspecialty Hospital (a unit of Manipal Hospitals Group), celebrated World Environment Day today with a heartfelt initiative to honour the everyday heroes from Kolkata Municipality’s Ward no. 109, who silently contribute to keeping our city clean. In an event held at the hospital’s EM Bypass campus, Smt. Ananya Banerjee, Councillor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (Ward 109), joined hospital leadership and staff to felicitate sanitation workers who work tirelessly through every season to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the neighbourhood.
Speaking on the occasion, hospital spokesperson Smt. Ananya Banerjee, stated, “This World Environment Day reminds us that a healthy life begins with a clean and sustainable environment. I was truly delighted to hear about Manipal Hospitals’ initiative to honour the unsung heroes of hygiene from Ward No. 109. It is a commendable and thoughtful step towards building a cleaner tomorrow. Since 2015, I have witnessed how Medica — now a part of the Manipal Hospitals Group— has consistently taken initiatives to support environmental well-being in the locality. Just as a hospital upholds hygiene as a core value for healing, these frontline sanitation workers are the silent guardians of our community’s health. Such initiatives wouldn’t be possible without the steadfast involvement of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, whose role remains pivotal in shaping a healthier Kolkata.”
The event also featured a special felicitation ceremony and interactive sessions with the sanitation workers. Members of the local community joined hands in expressing their gratitude and pledging continued environmental responsibility.
Dr. Ayanabh DebGupta, Regional COO, Manipal Hospitals (East), stated, “At Manipal Hospitals, we believe that health and environment are inseparable. This World Environment Day, our celebration goes beyond symbolism, it is a tribute to the individuals who ensure the cleanliness of our surroundings and often goes unnoticed. Recognising their contribution reflects our deeper commitment to holistic community wellness and sustainable healthcare.”
As part of the Manipal Hospitals Group, Medica Superspecialty Hospital continues to integrate sustainability into its healthcare philosophy, not just within hospital walls but in the communities it serves.
