The platform offers personalised, profile-based, condition-based, and organ-specific health check packages, ensuring relevance across age groups and health needs. Accessible through digital formats such as website, app, and assisted channels within hospitals and communities, MAHI was presented as a simpler, more engaging way for individuals and families to stay proactive about their health, from routine screenings to expert consultations and timely immunisation.
Speaking at the event, doctors highlighted that India is rapidly shifting towards preventive healthcare. Industry estimates indicate that the preventive health market is expected to reach ₹16,000+ crore by 2026, growing at a 22% CAGR, while the health check-up market alone is projected to cross ₹10,000 crore by 2030. Post-COVID consumer surveys show a 40% shift towards preventive care and a 94% increase in overall health awareness. At the same time, India continues to face a significant chronic disease burden, with over 270 million people living with or at risk of chronic conditions, reinforcing the urgent need for early screening and regular health checks.
Doctors at the press conference emphasised that while people often commit to gym routines or diet changes as New Year resolutions, preventive healthcare such as annual health screenings and adult vaccinations remains underutilised due to low awareness, price perceptions, and resistance to change. MAHI has been conceptualised to address these barriers by nudging people from a “have-to” illness mindset to a “want-to” wellness approach, encouraging preventive care rather than reactive.
Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Director and Senior Consultant – Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, stated, “Preventive healthcare is the most powerful intervention we have today. Timely health screenings, early risk detection, and lifestyle awareness can prevent many serious cardiac and chronic conditions long before they require complex treatment. Platforms like MAHI play a critical role in shifting the focus from treating disease to preserving health, empowering individuals to take informed action early and consistently.”
Dr. Vikash Kapoor, Cluster Director, Orthopaedics, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass and Mukundapur, “Preventive healthcare is as important for bones and joints as it is for any other organ system. Conditions like osteoporosis, joint degeneration, and posture-related issues often progress silently until they impact mobility and quality of life. Platforms like MAHI help bring early screening, timely advice, and preventive action into everyday life, enabling people to stay active, independent, and pain-free for longer.”
Dr. Debraj Jash, Head of the Department – Pulmonology (Respiratory & Sleep Medicine), Manipal Hospitals “Respiratory and sleep disorders often go undiagnosed until they begin to affect daily life. Regular health screenings, lung function tests, and sleep assessments can help detect issues early and prevent long-term complications. MAHI brings preventive respiratory care closer to people, enabling timely diagnosis, better disease management, and improved quality of life through early action rather than delayed treatment.”
Dr. Tanmay Banerjee, Senior Consultant, Critical Care Medicine, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, stated, “In critical care, we often see patients at the most severe end of preventable illnesses. Early detection, routine health checks, and preventive interventions can drastically reduce emergency admissions and complications. MAHI is a step towards empowering people to act early, stay informed, and prevent health conditions from escalating into critical situations.”
Dr. Amlan Mandal, Senior Consultant, Neurology, Manipal Hospital Mukundapur, stated, “Neurological disorders often develop silently over years before symptoms become obvious. Preventive health check-ups, timely screenings, and early consultations play a crucial role in identifying risks early and slowing disease progression. Platforms like MAHI help bridge the gap between awareness and action by making preventive neurological care more accessible, personalised, and part of everyday health habits.”
Dr. Indranil Das, Senior Consultant, Emergency Medicine, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, stated, “In emergency medicine, every second matters, and outcomes often depend on how early help is received. While advanced emergency care saves lives, awareness, timely response, and basic life-support skills like CPR can make a critical difference even before a patient reaches the hospital. Preventive health platforms and public education play a vital role in building a safer, more prepared community where emergencies are recognised early and acted upon without delay.”
Dr. Souvik Roy Choudhury, Senior Consultant, ENT, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, “Preventive care plays a crucial role in ENT health, as many conditions related to hearing, sinus, throat, and voice disorders develop gradually and are often ignored until they become severe. Platforms like MAHI help bridge this gap by encouraging people to address ENT concerns early, rather than waiting for symptoms to escalate.”
Dr. Shaswati Sengupta Datta, Consultant ENT, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, stated, “What we see clinically is that early evaluation and timely medical intervention can prevent complications and reduce the need for aggressive treatments later. Preventive ENT care, regular check-ups and awareness about warning signs play a crucial role in maintaining long-term quality of life across all age groups,”
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer (East), Manipal Hospitals, said, “With MAHI, Manipal Hospitals East we are strengthening our commitment to preventive healthcare by making it more approachable and personalised for consumers. As awareness around wellness grows, especially after COVID-19, platforms like MAHI will help people take charge of their health early, rather than waiting for illness to strike. Our goal is to integrate preventive care seamlessly into everyday life and encourage families to prioritise wellness and even gift health check-ups and preventive screenings to their loved ones.”
Manipal Hospitals’ leadership and clinicians highlighted the necessities for preventive healthcare, that should be an annual habit for every individual. By combining digital access, curated health packages, and trusted clinical expertise, MAHI is positioned as a positive lifestyle choice that keeps people engaged, informed, and healthier for the long term.
