Staff Reporter : Kolkata, 2nd April 2026: Kolkata is set to witness a unique confluence of music and meditation on the morning of 5th April at the Heartfulness Meditation Centre, located near The Heritage School, Anandapur, Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. The concert which is scheduled at 9.00am will be twinned with Heartfulness meditation session making it a complete spiritual experience where music meets meditation. Distinguished virtuoso – Sougata Roy Chowdhury on Sarod accompanied on Tabla by maestro – Debajyoti Sanyal will render a soulful experience aiding a deep spiritual connect and centredness following the meditation. The free walk-in event is open to youth, corporates, students, people from different walks of lives.
At the core of this musical morning lies the essence of Heartfulness, a simple yet profound practice that gently guides individuals to turn inward and connect with the heart. Through relaxation and meditation, it helps in quietening the mind, balancing emotions, and experiencing a deep sense of inner peace.

Revered for his exceptional artistry and deep devotion to raga music, Sougata has trained under eminent gurus including Ustad Dyanesh Khan, Ustad Aashish Khan, Pandit Santosh Banerjee, Pandit Rajeev Taranath, and the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. His music reflects a rare combination of technical brilliance and spiritual depth. An “A” grade artist of All India Radio Kolkata, he has also been celebrated at the Saptak Festival and recognized internationally at the Aga Khan Music Awards in 2019. Through performances and teaching across continents, he continues to uphold the rich legacy of his tradition with humility and dedication.
Debajyoti Sanyal, a world-class exponent known for his extraordinary virtuosity and nuanced expression. Initiated into music at the age of four under his father Sri Amalendu Sanyal, he further trained with stalwarts Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and Pandit Shankar Ghosh. His dynamic style effortlessly spans classical purity and contemporary fusion, captivating audiences across India and abroad.
