News stardom : Kolkata, 2nd. January, 2023 – Adamas University started today a 2 day International Conference on Morality, Spirituality, Culture and Society – East and West in collaboration with the Institute of Cross Cultural Studies and Academic Exchange, USA, Vidya Bharati-Higher Education & Centre for the Study of Religion and Society, Jadavpur University.
This conference is a prestigious event, organized to provide an international platform for academicians and researchers and students to share their research findings with global experts. Participants from the USA, UK, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Portugal Norway China and Bangladesh deliberated in the conference.
The conference speakers pointed that our avarice and greed have led to low ethics and moral values. In today’s world, intolerance is the norm and not the exception. Tolerance is a virtue badly needed in this diverse, impatient, angry world. This Conference aims to re-visit our value systems and aims to ideate on ways to mental happiness. The two-day conference will have a number of sub-themes that will try to critically analyze those facets of morality, spirituality (with or without religion), cultural heritage and society that we need to preserve or bring to the forefront.
Prof. (Dr.) Rubi Sain, Emeritus Professor, Department of Social Sciences (Sociology), and the Convener of the Conference said: “The increasing incidents of hatred, violence of all kinds, and other such grave incidents makes it important for individuals to respect, uphold and practice the human values enshrined in India’s spirituality and indeed in all value systems across societies and religions. We hope that this conference will shed light on how we can restore those essential values imperative for human survival.”
