News Stardom : Kolkata , 30th.November, 2022 : A nip in the air and a change in the colour of leaves mark the onset of Christmas . Ahead of Christmas celebrations , Ibiza the fern resort and spa, Kolkata hosted a joyous cake mixing ceremony today . A galaxy of stars including Mumtaz Sarkar, Singer Soumitra Ray and actress Sayantani Guhathakurta joined the cake mixing ceremony at Ibiza today. Mumtaz Sarkar has also spoke about her role in the upcoming Bengali flick Bantala Rape Case files where she played a pivotal character. Director Kingshuk Dey is now busy in post-production of the film. Bidipta chakraborty, Kinjal Nanda, new comer Taniksha Roy also acted in the films along with supporting actors.
The cake mixing was initiated by the executive chef and Subhadip Basu , GM, Ibiza The Fern Resort & Spa , Kolkata . Other chefs , resort staff and the resident and nonresident guests rolled up their sleeves and donned the Christmas hats to plunge into a hearty mixing of dry fruits, nuts ,raisins and syrups galore.

This tradition is followed all across the globe and heralds the Christmas season which is incomplete without the rich and sumptuous Christmas cake. The more hands that go into it the better the flavour of the cake.We at Ibiza The Fern Resort & Spa , Kolkata have a full fledged bakery and churn out cakes of all sorts of flavours. We celebrate the ritutal every year , however the covid played a dampener . This year we are celebrating with much enthusiasm and fanfare . We hope to make It a bigger celebration next year”, said Subhadip Basu, GM. Ibiza the Fern Resort & Spa,Kolkata.
The cake mixing began with handing over the aprons, gloves and Santa caps to the guests and celebrities. This was followed by the chefs, other staff members of the hotel and guests coming together to mix the ingredients. The process began with adding the fruits and nuts to a large container and pouring the spirits. Then the mixture was tossed and turned till they were drenched in the spirit. Christmas décor and live crooning added immensely to the camaraderie of the event. This was followed by a scrumptious spread by the culinary maestros of the hotel to celebrate the festivities with a perfect blend of Christmas spirit and cheer. It was a tremendous task of mixing an assorted xxx kg of fruits with xxx litres of brandy and rum! For almost 30 days, the mix will be allowed to steep before their special Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings and Dundee cakes come out of the oven.
