It is noted that there is a lack of awareness among people about hearing impairment. The timely and proper intervention of cochlear implants has good clinical outcome can help patients lead normal life. Complex ENT procedure sometimes along with advanced devices like the cochlear implant is indeed a boon for those with hearing loss”.

Dr. Arjun Dasgupta, Consultant, Rhinologist ENT, Endoscopic Skull-based surgeon & Dr. Chirojit Dutta, Consultant, Laryngologist, ENT Head & Neck Surgeon explains how lack of awareness gives rise to denials. “Although hearing loss is highly prevalent, there is a substantial lack of accessible information and recent development in the field of ENT. Children who are subjected to this challenge can fight it with the help of advanced ENT treatment & protocol. Advanced interventional devices can change society if the parents accept the new advanced technique like cochlear implants. Unlike glasses, which are considered fashionable, a hearing device is yet to become acceptable in society. It is often considered a sign of disability. Such stigma can affect the patient’s morality and confidence. This is very common among adult patients. People with such disability is regarded to be a burden to the society however, with the active help, support and guidance, people from different sections of the society can take up this challenge and reduce the challenge of hearing impairment which prevails today.”
