Felicitates 272 Elderly Contractors for their skill and mentorship in the infrastructure industry
Staff Reporter : Kolkata, 4th October, 2024: Dalmia Bharat Ltd., one of India’s leading cement companies proudly marked the 5th anniversary of its highly regarded ‘Aap Hain Sachche Viswakarma’ initiative across its regions of operations in East India. Commemorating this special 5-year milestone, Dalmia Bharat felicitated 272 veteran contractors in the presence of their families, dealers and members of the contractor community. Through the initiative, Dalmia Bharat is committed to celebrate the craftsmanship of veteran ‘Rajmistrys’ regarded as ‘Gurus’ within their fraternity, for their immense contribution to the construction industry and mentoring future generations of contractors.
As part of the celebrations in West Bengal, Dalmia Cement representatives offered their humble salutations to 64 elderly and revered contractors. Each esteemed contractor received a special trophy, mementos, a shawl, gift and a specially designed photo album profiling their life’s work and contributions to the industry.
As a mark of respect, Dalmia Cement posthumously conferred the “Viswakarma” award upon Late Sk Rabai of Durgapur, West Bengal, who passed away on September 19, 2024, due to age and illness. Although he was initially nominated to receive the award in person, the company ensured it was still presented to his family. This gesture highlights Dalmia Cement’s steadfast commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of veteran contractors, both in life and beyond, in building a stronger society.
Speaking on the occasion, company spokesperson stated, “We are extremely proud to celebrate the 5th edition of our ‘Aap Hain Sachche Viswakarma’ initiative today. Our veteran rajmistrys are the pillars of the construction industry. Their skill and mentorship have shaped countless careers in this infrastructure community. By recognizing their contributions, Dalmia Bharat aims to strengthen its bond with the contractor community and inspire the next generation of builders. We look forward to continuing this tradition, promoting respect and unity within the construction fraternity.”
Lord Viswakarma, revered as the deity of craftsmanship and skill, holds deep significance for the contractor community. Since 2020, Dalmia Bharat has been organizing this initiative during Vishwakarma Puja to promote stronger relationships and build trust with contractors across the Eastern region. Over the years, the initiative has grown significantly in both reach and impact.
