● At ‘Creator Day’ in Kolkata, over 300 creators from West Bengal were in attendance
● Meta highlighted the global opportunities provided to creators, like being in Australia for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
News Stardom : Kolkata, 22nd October, 2022: Meta (formerly Facebook) today highlighted its commitment to creators in West Bengal and across the country, by organizing its first ‘Creator Day’ in Kolkata. The company also highlighted all the ways in which Indian cricket fans can support the Indian team, ahead of tomorrow’s India-Pakistan match, at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
‘Creator Day’ is Meta’s annual flagship event to celebrate creators, and provides an opportunity for them to create, collaborate and learn from each other. The 2022 version of the event will take place across 5 cities – Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi. At the event, in a first, Meta provided the fans an opportunity to meet and interact with their favorite creators.
In the run up to the event, creators Mahamuda Khatun, Praveen Sethia, Pawan Kumar, Puja Kumari, Sneha Kumari, Aisha Madhi, Happy Prince and Trina Saha – were ambassadors for Creator Day, with them featuring on outdoor ads that were visible in different parts of the city. Over 300 creators finally attended the event and had the opportunity to sit through sessions on collaborating with other creators in the best possible way, on brand partnerships, making the best reels and on creator wellbeing.
While ‘Creator Day’ was an occasion for Meta to highlight the way Bengali trends like ‘Kacha Badam’ became popular across the globe, the way gaming creators like Gyan Gaming have grown because of Reels and how music from artists like Iman Chakrabarty are driving trends on Reels. It was also an occasion to underline Meta’s latest partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which gives creators a global stage to perform and showcase their talent. As a part of it, Meta is sending a ‘Reels squad’ to Australia, which is a group of creators selected to be part of unique experiences, who in this case will create content with cricketers across the teams participating at the World Cup. All this content can be viewed using #ReelsSquadIndia.
Manish Chopra, Director & Head of Partnerships for Facebook India (Meta), who delivered the keynote at the event, said, “We admire creators because of their impact in shaping culture, by sharing and building communities using Reels on Facebook and Instagram. We believe using our platforms, creators can be global icons of tomorrow, and we’re working towards this by providing them with product features and unique programs. Sending creators to Australia, to collaborate with cricketers across the globe, at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, is our latest effort.”
Actor Koel Mallick was also present at the event and engaged with the creators, said, “The energy and creativity I see from creators in Kolkata is admirable and inspirational. I regularly scroll through your Reels on Instagram and Facebook, and am impressed with the communities you’re building. Congrats to Meta, for bringing this creator community together in West Bengal, for inspiring young people in the state, and for having me at the event.”
