News Stardom : Kolkata, 27th. November, 2022: Marcos Evangelista de Morais, the legendary Brazilian footballer, popularly known as Cafu visited Adamas University, to encourage students to take up active sports as a part of their lives. He is considered to be one of the best ever football defenders. Cafu is Brazil’s most capped player, being world cup finalist for three times and two times FIFA World Cup champion and the last holder of FIFA World Cup Trophy as a Captain.
Cafu shared the book “Cafu Saga”, his biography authored by Mariah Morais. His life portrayed in the form of book is an inspiration for many. After the formal felicitation ceremony, where the leadership of the University were present, Cafu had a lively interaction with the students. He shared words during the interaction mentioning that “India and Brazil have a glorious history in football.” Cafu said “For a life in education, sports are also very important”. To which he encouraged and marked the education in sports and sports in education alliance and said that it is very important to understand the aura of this interconnection. Speaking to the students and faculty, Cafu said that “This is a very important day for him and he is very happy to be at Adamas University. It is a historic moment for him to be visiting India.” Adding on to it Cafu said “You have to have the dream and chase them until you get to live it”. He shared expressions about his dream to be a footballer and the dedication that he has put into it, chasing them throughout with a positive note. Cafu also participated in a football game with the students after the interaction.
Prof (Dr) Samit Ray, Chancellor, Adamas University, said that Adamas University has always laid special emphasis to the field of sports, sports culture and scholarship to sportspersons since its inception. Cafu visiting the campus has inspired many to take up dreaming high and be ambitious throughout. Adamas University since last 4 years is planning scholarships for under 13, 16, 17, 18 teams. It already provides full scholarship amounting 2 crores annually. This is so that special sports talents also get the best education as both are interlinked. This has resulted in a reversal of sport person to our state who previously migrated to other states. Adamas University has been doing consistently well and has been improving in Khelo India. Chancellor (Dr) Samit Ray also added that “It is indeed a great honor to host Mr. Cafu at Adamas University campus. Adamas University is situating special focus on Academic, Research and Sports Segment giving equal emphasis to both academics and sports. In the wake of 21st century international citizenship, every student should be inclined to sports as well as academics. “Adamas University proudly hosting the legend and Worldcupper Cafu has marked a great note in the field of sports and education.
