Aakash Aath Presents ‘Sahityer Shera Somoy’ With New Stories From Bengali Literature’s Treasure Trove…..

*- Bani Basu’s Timeless Classic ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’ Is The First Story Of The Series .*

News stardom : Kolkata, 26th December, 2022: Aakash Aath, one of the most popular General Entertainment Channels (GEC), today, announced the launch of the series ‘Sahityer Shera Somoy’. Present in the Press Conference were the cast and crew members of ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’, the first classic that will be aired in the series, including Debdut Ghosh, Sneha Das, Fahim Mirza, Reshmi Bhattacharya, Joyetri Chowdhury, Abhijit Deb Rai, Rupsha Mondal. The acclaimed authors, Ms Bani Basu, Pracheta Gupta with the Directors of Aakash Aath; Ms Eshita Surana Poddar and Ms Priyanka Surana Bardia also attended the launch Press Conference.

On this occasion were also seen, the Director of this series, Mr Manish Ghosh along with the other renowned artists of the Tollywood Industry including Arun Mukhopadhyay, Bodhisattwa Majumdar, Shankar Chakraborty, Biswanath Ghosh, actresses Swarna Kamal and Soma Ckakraborty.

The journey of ‘Sahityer Shera Somoy’ begun in 2001. The doyen of Bengali television industry, Late Shri Ashok Surana, nurtured its inimitable concept. The key reason behind this endeavor was to highlight the richness and glory of Bengali literature through the timeless works of the legendary writers of Bengal, particularly to the younger generation. It was under his unmatched guiding light that Aakash Aath for the first time introduced memorable adaptions of the works of Bengali literary Laureates. Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Madhyabartini’ was the maiden story aired in this series that was immensely popular and successful back then.

As the New Year approaches, Aakash Aath is again geared up for a complete entertainment- packed season by reviving ‘Sahityer Sera Somoy’. The award-winning novel by Smt. Bani Basu, ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’, that continues to tug at the heartstrings of readers across generations is going to be telecasted in it.

The story, ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’ continues to appeal to the readers across generations. The narrative will reveal the soulful journey of ‘Bandana’. The happy and contented marital life of this endearing lady turns into deep despair with the untimely demise of her husband in a fatal road accident. With her only son for her company, how she overcomes the challenges and cynicism of society imposed on her forms the arresting storyline.

The tale throws focus on the challenging conditions of single women (widows of the time) and the state of single-parent children in post-independence era. It will gradually unravel the sorrows, sacrifices and the innumerable compromises of the lead protagonist, who decides to suppress her own emotions and desires for the sake of her child.

It is fascinating to work with such a fabulous star cast who are doing absolute justice to the demands of their characters”, said Mr Manish Ghosh, Director of ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’.

Apart from ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’, ‘Sahityer Shera Somoy’ will also comprise of the other prominent compositions by the well-known writers. Novels titled ‘Kodi Diye Kinlam’ by Late Shri Bimal Mitra, ‘Kancher Dewal’ by Late Smt. Suchitra Bhattacharya and ‘Agnipariksha’ by the jewel of the Indian Literature, Padmashree Late Ashapurna Devi are some of the forthcoming works which are going to be screened in the series.

In ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’, Sneha Das essays the role of ‘Bandana’ while Debdut Ghosh will be seen as ‘Kashinath Bhattacharya’ who plays Bandana’s father-in-law, Joyetri Chowdhury as her mother-in-law, Fahim Mirza as ‘Abhimanyu’, Abhijit Deb Rai as ‘Biswanath Bhattacharya’, Abimanyu’s uncle, Reshmi Bhattacharya as Abhimanyu’s Aunt, Rupsha Mondal as ‘Koli’, Abhimanyu’s sister, Jinia Debnath as Mili, Bitan Samanta as Gablu, Raja Biswas as Tublu and Swarnav Goswami as Bheblu.

Pramita Bhattacharya has penned the dialogues and also written the script of ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’. The DOP is Jayanta Chowdhury.
