BML Munjal University and The Future Foundation School Host 4th Edition of India’s Largest Inter-School Moot Court Competition in Kolkata….

News stardom : Kolkata, August 1st, 2025: In a compelling showcase of budding legal talent, BML Munjal University (BMU), a Hero Group initiative, in collaboration with The Future Foundation School, Kolkata, hosted the 4th edition of the National Inter-School Moot Court Competition; the largest of its kind in India. This year’s edition witnessed participation from 138 students and 46 educators, representing 34 prestigious schools from cities including Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Gaya.

The moot problem involved a challenge to the constitutionality of a public recruitment notification excluding candidates holding qualifications from open schools, thereby requiring students to think critically about contemporary legal and constitutional issues. Since its inception, the competition has grown significantly in scale, reputation, and geographic reach, emerging as a benchmark for experiential legal education at the school level.
Emerging as champions after a series of intense rounds was Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, Kolkata taking first place for their sharp advocacy and structured arguments. The BSS School, Kolkata claimed second place, impressing judges with their clarity and composure.

Held on August 1, 2025, at The Future Foundation School, the full-day event featured 24 preliminary rounds, two semi-finals, and a grand finale, offering students a near-authentic courtroom simulation. Judged by a distinguished panel comprising of faculty members from the School of Law at BML Munjal University, the competition followed a rigorous evaluation framework focused on articulation, research, and interpretation of law.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Pritam Baruah, Dean, School of Law, BML Munjal University and keynote speaker, said, “It’s encouraging to see school students handle complex legal issues with clarity and conviction. Competitions such as these encourage young citizens to think critically and argue responsibly by grounding their views in research. At BMU we remain committed to advancing early legal exposure through immersive learning experiences like moots.”

The moot court competition has grown in scale, diversity, and academic rigour over its four editions. It continues to provide a powerful platform for young minds to engage with legal reasoning, advocacy, and constitutional values, helping shape a future generation of informed and responsible citizens.
