Successful Conclusion of the 4th EVM-i Skill Course: CME cum Live Workshop in Kolkata
Endovascular treatment is a minimally invasive option and an alternative to open surgery, which avoids adjacent tissue damage and has potentially lower morbidity and mortality rates than conventional management.
The 4th Endo Vascular Management-India (EVM-i) Skill Course: CME cum Live Workshop concluded successfully on July 13th, 2024, at the Sonnet Hotel and HP Ghosh Hospital in Kolkata. This exclusive event, provided an immersive learning experience for medical professionals, focusing on the latest advancements in endovascular management.
Conducted by Dr. Jayanta Das and Dr. K. Mukherjee, the workshop covered critical areas such as varicose vein and venous leg ulcer (VLU) management, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) management (angioplasty and stenting), compression garments and devices, and wound management. Participants engaged in hands-on simulation stations, gaining practical experience in medical instruments and hardware, endovenous ablation, angioplasty and stenting, and vascular anastomosis.
The event featured sessions on vascular ultrasound theory and practical applications, ultrasound-guided puncture of internal jugular (IJV), femoral, and popliteal veins, and the use of medical stockings and four-layer compression stockings. Participants also received training in treatments for varicose veins, including endovenous laser therapy (EVLT), radiofrequency (RF) ablation, foam sclerotherapy, glue closure, and mechanical occlusion chemically assisted ablation (MOCA). Additional topics included peripheral angioplasty and stenting, closing perforator veins, permacath and chemoport insertion, advanced foam sclerotherapy, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and deep venous interventions, ultrasound-guided arteriovenous (AV) fistula angioplasty, and hybrid treatments for arteriovenous malformations.
The workshop featured distinguished faculty members from around the world, including Dr. Mogan Naidu (Malaysia), Dr. Razni Kassim (Sri Lanka), Dr. Shantanu Ghosh (Bangladesh), Dr. Sandeep Pandey (Nepal), Dr. Ravul Jindal (Chandigarh), and Dr. Dheepak Selvaraj (CMC Vellore) and many more national and international faculties . Their diverse perspectives and extensive experience enriched the event, providing a broad understanding of endovascular management.
Dr. Jayanta Das, the organizer of the event, expressed his satisfaction with the workshop’s outcomes. “The 4th EVM-i Skill Course has been an incredible platform for sharing knowledge and advancing skills in endovascular management.
