News Stardom : kolkata, 1st. October 2022. School of Life Science and Biotechnology, Adamas University, Kolkata, has recently organized an international conference “BIONEXT 2022 – Frontiers in Modern Biology” from 21-23 September at Adamas University addressing the role of bioscience in the current and future context of life on earth. The conference was divided into ten sessions including invited talks, selected oral presentations, and a poster competition along with some fun activities like an agar art contest. The conference was jointly managed by the Adamas University, Kolkata, and Maulana Azad College, Affiliated with the University of Calcutta. The international conference and the agar art competition were sponsored by the Adamas University, Kolkata, and Microbiology Society, UK, respectively. As many as 25 invited lectures were delivered by eminent speakers from renowned international and national institutes like, Stanford University USA, Washington University USA, Adelphi University USA, New York College of Podiatric Medicine USA, Ariel University Israel, University College London UK, Bangladesh Agricultural University, University of Agriculture Nigeria, CSIR-IICB Kolkata, Bose Institute Kolkata, University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, IISER Kolkata, etc., delivered their lectures on recent advances of bioscience and agriculture in the field of cancer, drug discovery, theranostics in nanoscience, phytochemical medicines, and protein science. There were more than 400 registered participants from more than 30 institutions in India and abroad who joined the sessions in both offline and online modes. In the selected oral presentation sessions 24 participants presented their research work and were judged by the jury members to be published in SCOPUS indexed “Journal of Experimental Biology and Agricultural Sciences”. A total of 46 poster participants from different universities and institutes contested to win the prizes with their research work addressing topics like anti-microbial resistance, global warming, nanoparticles as an anti-bacterial agent, new targets to treat tuberculosis, anti-depression drugs, etc. There was a specific industry talk session organized where speakers from industries like MERCK, SAF FERMION, and SARTORIUS enlighten our participants about the current need for bio-based industries. The industry partners of BIONEXT 2022 were MERCK India and SARTORIUS. Overall, the participants from different institutions experienced enriched discussions and recent growth in the several areas of Nanotechnology, Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Ayurvedic plants and their medicinal components, Cancer research, and several other important corners of biosciences.
