Staff Reporter  : kolkata, 20 January 2026: Just a day left before inauguration of the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair 2026. Guild Secretary and President Today mention the following points:

Inauguration Ceremony at 4pm by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with Mr Gustavo Canzobre, Tagore scholar and essayist from Argentina, H.E. Mr Mariano Agustin Caucino, Ambassador of Argentina, Shri Swapnamoy Chakraborti and Ministers of Government of West Bengal and other dignitaries.

Shri Swapnamoy Chakraborty will be conferred GUILD LIFETIME LITERARY AWARD worth Rs 2,00,000/- in the inaugural ceremony by our Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt Mamata Banerjee.

Senior Citizen’s Day will be celebrated on 30 January 2026 at 4:30pm. Felicitation to Poet Mridul Dasgupta, Publisher Rajendra Kumar Mehra of Rupa and voracious Reader Nirmal Bhattacharya.

The Kolkata Literature Festival will be held on 24 and 25 January in the auditorium.The complete schedule of KLF 2026 is as follows

3.30 pm Inauguration by Amitav Ghosh and Goutam Ghose. Presentation of the Samaresh Majumdar Prize by Amitav Ghosh to Goutam Ghose

4 pm Bay of Stories: Amitav Ghosh on how Bengal’s unique bond of village life and waterways has inspired his books. In conversation with Arunava Sinha

4.50pm Trailokyanath Theke Emoji – Bangla Sahitye Hasyorosh: Chandril Bhattacharya, Ullash Mallick and Srijato. In conversation with Agnijit Sen

5.40pm 25-ey 10?: Shireshendu Mukhopadhyay, Pracheta Gupta and Debarati Mukhopadhyay on whether the 21st century so far has passed the test of time. In conversation with Aveek Majumdar

6.30 pm Books of Faith and Myth: Devdutt Pattanaik in conversation with Rahul Dev Bose.
