আন্তর্জাতিক পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্ত চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাতা রাজাদিত্য ব্যানার্জি তাঁর ‘ডেথ সার্টিফিকেট ‘ চলচ্চিত্রর জন্য বিখ্যাত। পৃথিবীর নানা প্রান্তের চলচ্চিত্র উৎসব ঘুরে ২০১৮তে  কলকাতা আন্তর্জাতিক চলচ্চিত্র উৎসবে দেখানো হয়েছিল এই ছবি।

রাজাদিত্য নিজে একজন দক্ষ থিয়েটার অভিনেতা ও চিত্রনাট্য লেখক। এর আগে তার নির্মিত ছবি গুলির মধ্যে অন্যতম ডেথ ট্রিলজি । ডেথ সার্টিফিকেটের পর আরও দুটি ফিচার ছবি (‘শিবরাত্রি’ ও ‘শববাহিকা’) নির্মাণ করেন তিনি । এছাড়াও নির্মাণ করেছেন আরও বেশ কয়েকটি তথ্য চিত্র।  তাঁর বানানো  উল্লেখযোগ্য কয়েকটি তথ্যচিত্র হলো ‘ওয়াটারওয়ালা’, ‘Lost for Words’ , ‘ডেথ অফ ডেথ’, ‘ওয়ান ডে ইন ইন্ডিয়া’ ইত্যাদি।

তার আসন্ন তথ্য চিত্র ‘Dying Art of the Bohurupis of Bengal’ (বিপন্ন বহুরূপী)- র টিজার সম্প্রতি মুক্তি পেয়েছে সোশ্যাল মাধ্যমে।। ভারত ও ফিনল্যান্ডের যৌথ প্রযোজনায় নির্মিত এই তথ্য চিত্রে বাংলার প্রায় বিলুপ্ত বহুরূপী দের কথা তুলে ধরতে চলেছেন রাজাদিত্য।। এই ছবিতে বহুরুপী শিল্প এবং সেই শিল্পের সাথে যুক্ত শিল্পীদের জীবন ও সংগ্রামের বয়ান দেখাবেন তিনি। কিংবদন্তি বহুরূপী শিল্পী সুবলদাস বৈরাগ্য , রবি পণ্ডিত , বীরভূমের ব্যাধ পরিবারের রাজেন্দ্র ব্যাধ ও বাজিকর সম্প্রদায়ের বহুরূপী ভানু বাজীকর প্রমুখদের বয়ানে ছবিতে বহুরূপী শিল্পের বিপন্ন অবস্থার কথা তুলে ধরতে চলেছেন রাজাদিত্য। বহুরূপী অর্থাৎ বহুরূপে যার প্রকাশ, ইতিহাসের একটি সুপ্রাচীন শিল্পকলা। কিন্তু নিছক শিল্পের গন্ডীতেই তার যাতায়াত  সীমিত নয়, সমাজ, ধর্ম, আঞ্চলিক সংস্কৃতি ও ভাষাগত প্রকাশের নানাবিধ ক্ষেত্রগত দিকের সঙ্গে সেটির সংযোজন একটি বিশিষ্ট রূপ প্রদানে সক্ষম হয়েছে। তাই বহুরূপীর ইতিহাস কেবল একটি শিল্পের কথা নয়, তা ঐ শিল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত মানুষদের জীবনের ওঠা- পড়ার গল্প, কিভাবে জীবন সংগ্রামের মধ্য দিয়ে এই শিল্পীরা তাঁদের প্যাশন কে অবলম্বন করে আছেন তা তুলে ধরার গল্প; একই সঙ্গে এই ইতিহাস এক বিশেষ ধরণের পারফরম্যান্সের এবং যে সমস্ত অঞ্চল গুলিতে তার বিকাশ, তাদের সংস্কৃতি, ভাষা ও সামাজিক আঙ্গিক গুলি আত্মস্থ করে নেওয়ার প্রকৃতি ছবির মধ্যে দেখাবেন পরিচালক।
বহুরূপী শিল্পের উদ্ভবের ইতিহাসের পাশাপাশি বর্তমান সময়ে এইসব শিল্পীদের পারফরমান্সের একটি গবেষণাধর্মী ও উপভোগ্য পরিবেশন পাওয়া যাবে এই চলচ্চিত্রে। একই সঙ্গে জানা যাবে এখন ঠিক কোথায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছে এই শিল্প এবং তার সঙ্গে যুক্ত শিল্পীদের জীবন। ছবিতে বহুরুপীদের সঙ্গে কথোপকথনের মাধ্যমে জানার চেষ্টা করা হয়েছে এই শিল্প সম্পর্কে তাদের মতামত, বর্তমান সময়ে বিশেষত করোনাকালীন লকডাউনের পরিস্থিতিতে তাদের বেঁচে থাকার সংগ্রাম এবং সার্বিক ভাবে, বহুরূপী শিল্পের অধুনা দুরবস্থাকে। একই সঙ্গে, দেখানো হবে তাদের সাজ, পারফরমান্স এবং জীবন যাপনের নানা দিক যা দর্শক মনকে ভাবতে বাধ্য করবে বাংলার ফোক ইতিহাসের পাতায় এই শিল্পের অবস্থান কতখানি তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ এবং তারই সাথে, এটির বর্তমান দুরবস্থা কতখানি বেদনাদায়ক।

ছবির সিনেমাটোগ্রাফির দায়িত্বে রয়েছেন তন্ময় কর্মকার, নয়ন তালুকদার, ও গীরিধারি গড়াই।। ছবির সম্পাদনা ও রং বিন্যাস করেছেন সুমন্ত সরকার, শব্দ গ্রহণ ও সঙ্গীত পরিকল্পনা করেছেন ব্যাক বেঞ্চার্স।। ইনসোমনিয়া মুভিজ নিবেদিত এই ছবি পরিচালক বাপ্পাদিত্য উৎসর্গ করেছেন প্রখ্যাত সাহিত্যিক ও পিতা দেবাশিস বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবং প্রখ্যাত প্রয়াত চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাতা ও তার দাদা বাপ্পাদিত্য ব্যানার্জীর উদ্দেশ্যে।

ছবির বিষয়ে বলতে গিয়ে পরিচালক রাজাদিত্য ব্যানার্জী জানান, “এই তথ্যচিত্র গবেষণাধর্মী ও মৌলিক। এটি সমাজের এক শ্রেণীর অবহেলিত ও প্রান্তিক শিল্পীদের কথা তুলে ধরবে। একই সাথে একটি সুপ্রাচীন শিল্পের পতনোন্মুখ অবস্থা এবং তাকে রক্ষার প্রয়োজনীয়তার প্রতিও দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করবে।। ছবির সিনেমাটোগ্রাফার তন্ময় কর্মকার, নয়ন তালুকদার, গীরিধারি গড়াই এবং ছবি সম্পাদক ও রঙ বিন্যাসক সুমন্ত সরকারের অসাধারণ মুন্সিয়ানায় ছবিটি এক অন্য মাত্রা পেয়েছে। পরিচালকের আশা এই সিনেমাটি দর্শকদের নজর কাড়বে।

First look teaser of Rajaditya Banerjee’s upcoming documentary film ‘Dying Art of the Bohurupis of Bengal’ is out now!

News Stardom : kolkata, First look teaser of internationally acclaimed actor director Rajaditya Banerjee’s upcoming documentary film ‘Dying Art of the Bohurupis of Bengal’ is out now. Director Rajaditya is immensely praised internationally for his film ‘Death Cirtificate’. The film got huge critical acclaim in several prestigious international film festivals along with Kolkata International Film Festival. After ‘Death Cirtificate’ actor director Rajaditya made two more films (i.e. ‘Shibratri’, ‘Shob-Bahika’) which are considered to be the part of his acclaimed Death Trilogy. Besides he also made several documentaries like ‘Waterwala’, ‘Lost for Words’, ‘Death of Death’ & ‘One Day in India’.

His upcoming documentary film ‘Dying Art of Bohurupis of Bengal’s teaser is now released in YouTube. The film is an Indo-Finnish collaborative production and deals with the lives of almost extinct polymorphic artists of Bengal. Both the art of polymorphism and the artists’ lives will be showcased in the film through the bytes of legendary polymorphic artists like Subol Das Boiragya, Ravi Pandeet, Rajendra Byadh, Bhanu Bajikar, and many others.

Polymorphism is an ancient art form that has been evolved through history in India as well as in the entire world. It is not only limited as a theoritical art form but is expanded to the aspects of social behaviour, religious practice, cultural revolution as well. This film will not only speak about the art but also will showcase the ups and downs of the polymorphic artists who face constant obligation to earn their livelihood through this traditional art form. With the history of polymorphism, director Rajaditya also focuses on the present degradation of the art form in an experimental manner through this film.

Tanmay Karmakar, Nayan Talukdar & Giridhari Garai have taken the charge of cinematography, while Sumanta Sarkar is in charge of edit and color correction for the film. The sound scape and music is created by Back Benchers.

Director Rajaditya Banerjee devoted this Insomnia Movies presented film to his father & writer Debashis Bandopadhyay and to his elder brother and famous Bengali film director Bappaditya Banerjee.

While speaking about the film Rajaditya said, “This documentary film is highly original and experimental as well. The film will speak for the marginalized and neglected polymorphic artists of West Bengal. It will also discuss the importance to preserve this deteriorating art form. The earnest efforts of my cinematographers (Tanmay Karmakar, Nayan Talukdar & Giridhari Garai) and of my editor and colorist (Sumanta Sarkar) have added a quite unique touch to the film.
